A Short Piece Of History On Alicante-Spain.com
From time to time we get emails on who we are and what we do, so we decided to add this little story of alicante-spain.com for all of you who like to know.
When my Spanish wife and I started this website in March 2003, we just wanted to create an information source for family, friends and business clients who visit us here in San Juan, a suburb north of Alicante. At that time it contained basic information about the Alicante Airport and how to get around the city.
After some months on the web, we got more and more emails about how to get to Benidorm, where to stay in Denia or Torrevieja and so on. Answering the emails was time consuming, so we added new sections to the website.
Over the years the website somewhat outgrew the original intention and with now (2012) around 8900 visitors per day – it also grew into a new dimension.
All of a sudden a little personal website became a source for news and Alicante Travel Information. We are currently reworking most parts of the website. Some will be very visible to you like changes to the flights in and out Alicante section, others will be less visible, such as server upgrades or new newsletter software.
The New Spain Forum
In early 2012 we expanded our alicante-spain.com website into a Spain forum over at spaintips.com. By importing most of our FAQ’s into the new forum site, the Costa Blanca forum on spaintips.com instantly became a really nice resource with over 250 Costa Blanca and Spain travel questions and answers.
Who are we?
As far as us personal is concerned, we are a family of 3 with my wife Gloria being from the Oliva area around 1 hour north of Alicante. She works as a researcher at the Alicante Hospital. Our daughter Anna, is turning fifteen now and is the power and motor of our family. I am originally from Germany – well better said from Bavaria – from a city south of Munich. For over 10 years I have been living and working now in Alicante as marketing consultant.
And this lack of any English roots is – unfortunately – is responsible for so many (by far too many) spelling and writing errors on this website. Sorry for that.
On the other hand, we always like to hear from you if you have suggestions on how to improve this website. Please do also understand that we do not have the resources nor the time to answer particular questions (please use our Spain forum for your questions). We always try to keep up, but we are no official tourist organization or institution and this is just a (not so little) private website.
We all here hope that you enjoy your time at the Costa Blanca and that this website may be useful to you.
Best Regards,
PS: For all of you Costa Blanca and Alicante enthusiasts, please subscribe to our free Costa Blanca ezine newsletter, this way I will keep you up to date on any important news from this beautiful city and the wonderful Costa Blanca area.
