For all of you who could not make it to the Hogueras of San Juan this year, here are some pictures and slideshows.
Every year we celebrate the Hogueras de San Juan ( or Fogueres de san joan valencian) at the 24th of June here in Alicante. With a week of preceding celebrations, marches, singing and festivities, it all leads to the huge bonfires at the night of the 24th.
All the lovely and with so much detail built monuments and sculptures get burned in huge bonfires. Like every year, my wife and I took our car and drove down to Alicante during the morning hours of the 24th of June and take a round of pictures of some of the really impressive and creative sculptures.
Again, I wish you where here in Alicante at this time of the year and could see all the beautiful , detailed work and effort put into making these sculptures during the entire year. Perhaps next year if you are around your holidays in Benidorm, Torrevieja, Denia or anywhere around the Costa Blanca, you can catch a car and get to see it for your yourself.
