Javea / Xabia

Javea
The city of Javea ( or Xabia in valenciano ) Spain lies about 80 km north east of Alicante, in between Denia and Altea. You can reach Javea via the road N 332, a wonderful road along the coastline of the Costa Blanca.

If you have some time to discover the beauty of the area via this road - you will love it's views. Javea, between Denia in the north and the cabo de nao in the south, is embedded between two bays - the cabo San Antonio and the cabo San Martin.

Divided into three areas

The about 24 000 habitants of Javea live in three different parts of the city. Click on the photo to enlarge the map of javeaThe village of Javea which lies about 3 km land inward, the port of Javea and the area around the beach of Javea. In the old part of Javea there are still some traditionally built houses with balconies remaining. Along with some Javea hotels, you should enjoy spending your time just passing by the little shops.

Sightseeing in Javea

Especially along the Avenida del Mediterraneo which runs along the Javea harbor area, you will find many restaurants and bars.

From a sightseeing point of view, you should visit the church Iglesia de San Bartolome, which was built in the 12th century. Also of interest is the museum Soler Blasco, which can be found in the calle Primicias. The museum displays a copy of the treasure of Javea, which consists of jewelry from the past centuries. The original treasure of Javea can be seen in Madrid.

To me, the most impressive sightseeing point of Javea are not buildings but the wonderful view from the Cabo de Nao San Martin. Walking up a path from the Javea harbor - the hill of the bay allows an impressive view on the the cabo de nao.

October View from the Cabo la Nao near Javea SpainAlongside of Javea you will also find the cabo de Nao - a small hill - with a lighthouse on top.The cabo can be reached by car - on a road surrounded by Javea real estate agencies and residential areas. The top of the cabo de Nao gave me the impression as the last piece of hill of Javea which has not been built on. As well as the cabo de San Martin a must for every Javea tourist, because of the wonderful view.
