Where
the spanish language came from. The
search of the most remote origens of the spanish language or of any language,
in fact, takes us back to the words used in the daily life of civilisations
and reliving ancient legends.
The etymologists are the knowledgeable people who have helped us find the derivation of words. As we said, the spanish language came from the people so we can also call this study Folk Etymology, finding the stem or root of all the million of spanish words and spanish verbs we use today. But not all of the spanish language came from the spanish native but also from the people who came from other countries, bringing with them their accessories that might not have had a spanish word for it and so these people gave it a spanish word. For example, way back with Aristoteles he made good usage of the spanish word ´catolica´ and the word for thick blanket or ´edredon´ came from Scandinavia, or a Viennese instumentalist gave us the spanish word for the accordeon or in the spanish language ´acordeon´. A German chemist gave us the word for aspirin -´aspirina´, and a French economist the word for bureaucracy - ´burocracia´. And as everything grows, increases and therefore experiments changes, the spanish language also shows these transformations. With the invention of new inventions, a new spanish word must also be made up, like television or all the terms to do with our new era of technology. Why we should learn the spanish language Before, we had to learn spanish, if it was not our native tongue, mainly because it was one of our school subjects and we were made to. But today, with all of South America and Spain developing and opening up its political and economical frontiers, we can only think that it would be beneficial in all aspects of our lives to be able to actively interact with spanish speaking people directly by learning spanish. A language, be it written, spoken or even done with sign language is our only mode of making ourselves understood and if we can do this without having to use a spanish or english translator, we can have a clear, precise communication. Learning spanish can be achieved through classes at school, online with free spanish lessons and support material but the best and most direct way to do this is to go to a spanish speaking country and adquire the fluency in speaking and writing and the cultural background surrounding the spanish language.
