New Terminal Building At Alicante Airport

The big news over the past weeks around Alicante has been the inauguration of the brand new terminal building at Alicante airport.

Wow – what an impressive piece of architecture!

We all knew it was coming, since construction had been going on for years. The result is a fascinating modern building with a much larger capacity.

Impressive Numbers

Some numbers about the new Alicante airport terminal building:

• 628 Mio Euro (~550 Mio GBP) Building Cost
• 333 500 m² surface – 6 times more than the old two terminals combined
• 98 Check-In Counters
• 26 Boarding Gates
• 7880 Luggage pieces handling per hour
• 6740 Parking slots – nearly 3 times the past capacity.

And it goes on and on. To sum it up, a large new terminal building together with a new parking building is replacing both old terminal buildings. Or to say it again (since we already had people asking this question):

From 24.March 2011 on Alicante airport got only 1 new main terminal building.
Both old two terminal buildings are closed down!

So what does this mean for YOU ?

As interesting as all those facts might be, you are most likely only concerned about what it is going to be like when you come and fly into Alicante airport the next time.

In order to make this “all new airport” a bit easier for you, all Alicante airport related pages on this website have been updated. In fact, my staff (me, myself and I )  added more than 15 new pages covering a lot of different aspects and concerns.

I drew over 10 different maps of the airport, since there has not been much available officially so far and took over 800 pictures (which only around 50 have been used on the site).
